There are many peels available on the market so which one do you chose?

Jacqui chose to work with mesoesthetics due to there low ph, meaning the peels are some of the most acidic on the market, many of which can be administered by a medical professional only.

"I have recently had a salicylic acid skin peel. I can't believe the difference. I had a consultation with Jacqui 5 weeks ago and Jacqui discussed the options to treat my acne prone skin. Jacqui had a range of products to purchase to maximise the peel course. I chose the pre peel booster and used it for two weeks prior to my first peel as prescribed. I had the 10% peel for my first treatment. We discussed various options in my peel course, I can have up to six and increase the strength. However both Jacqui and I cannot believe the results from this first peel! My skin is so much clearer there is such an improvement. Because my results were so good we have decided I do not need to go up in strength as I am responding so well. This is a definite bonus as the price increases with strength. I really feel that Jacqui advises people honestly to get the best treatment outcomes rather than make more money, she could have easily said yes you need the more expensive peel I trust her completely and will never go to anyone else now."

Thank you for booking with Just Enhance. Your appointment will be with our registered nurse Jacqui Jones. A separate consultation is recommended prior to the peel, this is so you can be informed of the products you should be using. You will also be given the opportunity to ask any questions. Mesoesthetics retail a range of products that should be started 15 days before the peel. This is in order to optimise results and protect your skin. Pre peel packs are tailored to your skin complaints and are available for acne, anti-aging or depigmentation. Products can be purchased individually or in a special value pack. As a minimum it is recommended to apply the Brightening Peel Booster or the Resurfacing Peel Booster nightly to the skin 15 days prior to the peel to prepare the skin.

Things to avoid up to 14 days prior to treatment:

  • Waxing, Hair removal or bleaching.

  • AHA’s, BHA’s, Retinol, Self-Tans.

Things to avoid up to 48 hours prior to treatment:

  • Exfoliating agents

* Whilst we appreciate it is not always possible to give 72 hours notice for cold sores we are unable to refund your deposit as the cost of the missed appointment still needs to be covered.

Adverse reactions to chemical peels are rare but can include peeling, redness, scabbing, infection, recurrence of cold sores, and prolonged sensitivity to wind and sun.

Following the peel, Mesoesthetics strongly recommend purchasing the post peel kit*, which will:

  • Aid the healing and regenerating process of the skin after a resurfacing treatment.
  • Reduce the risk of adverse reactions.
  • Optimise results.

*Products can be purchased individually, however the pack is better value for money (products must be pre-ordered).

FAQS

A mesopeel is a pharmaceutical grade chemical peel. A chemical peel is a dermo-cosmetic procedure that consists of provoking accelerated skin regeneration in a controlled manner through application of chemoexfoliation agents that are used to act on different layers of the skin.

What are the benefits of this?

The peeling action causes the elimination of the external layers of the skin with the objective of stimulating collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycan production, thus enhancing its physiological and mechanical characteristics. Objectives are:

  • Purify and oxygenate the skin, leaving it moisturised and free of impurities.
  • Close open pores, improve the texture of the skin and increase thickness of the epidermis.
  • Address the effects of skin aging, softening wrinkles and adding turgidity.
  • Unify skin tone, add luminosity and smooth cutaneous imperfections.
  • Lighten and attenuate pigmented lesions, providing a depigmenting effect.
  • Reduce the manifestations of acne and improve the appearance of scars.

What different peels are available?

We offer a wide range of AHA, BHA and combined acid peels ranging from practitioner up to medical level, each suiting different varieties of skin concerns.

Will I peel?

Do not worry if you do not peel, for many superficial peels the magic is happening below the surface. Generally the better condition your skin is in the less likely you are to peel.

Do different peels work deeper than others?

Yes, chemical peels can be classified into four levels, depending on its depth of action, which in turn correlates with the nature and intensity of the lesions to treat.

  • Highly Superficial (Superficial Stratum Corneum) – Increases uniformity of skin tone for a more luminous appearance.
  • Superficial (epidermal to basal layer) – Stimulates epidermal growth by removing the stratum corneum. This causes skin to flake in a similar way to that occurring after excessive exposure to the sun.
  • Medium (papillary dermis) – Medium peels affect the papillary dermis, causing significant flaking by inducing superficial dermal inflammation. It completely removes the epidermis, which then renews until fully regenerated. Medical Only.
  • Deep (reticular dermis) – Deep chemoexfoliation leads to an inflammatory reaction of the reticular dermis, inducing collagen and elastin fibre reconstruction. Advanced Medical i.e. Dermatologist (please note Just Enhance cannot offer these peels).

What makes some go deeper into the skin than others?

Chemical peels reach distinctive depths. This depends on:

  • Skin typology (history, thickness, integrity of epidermal barrier)
  • Type, concentration and pH level of the substance used
  • Skin preparation and application techniques used in performing the treatment.

Can peels be used on all skin types and phototypes?

No. Peels are selected on the basis of the nature of the cases to treat, as well as patient’s individual characteristics, especially the phototypes. Low phototypes present less risk of suffering PIH (Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation’s). You should be aware that this means if you have higher photo type skin then you are at increased risk of PIH. Your phototype will be assessed using the Fitzpatrick Scale which has been adapted by Mesoesthetics.

How long will my skin be red for following the peel?

This is multifactoral and is related to; your compliance to the recommended before and aftercare, the type of peel used and your skin sensitivity.

Can the peels be combined?

Yes, more than one peel can be performed in the same session to achieve maximum and deeper results. However, the peels would be removed and neutralised between each application.

How many sessions are recommended?

This generally depends on the peel being used. Many high grade medical peels eg. TCA, can only be performed as a single treatment at six monthly intervals. However, our superficial, highly superficial and medium strength peels are generally able to be performed in sessions of six treatments, with two weeks between each treatment.

Is there recommended homecare to prepare the skin prior to a peel?

The Brightening Peel Booster or the Resurfacing Peel Booster are recommended to be applied nightly to the skin 15 days prior to a peel to prepare it. Pre peel packs are available to purchase. These are bursting with high quality products tailored to your skin complaint and at a reduced price compared to purchasing products individually.

Why do I need to use meso specific products?

Rigorous testing has been undertaken to ensure that the combination of products before and after a peel will not have an adverse interaction with mesopeel. These products will also enhance overall results.

Is there any specific aftercare that should be followed?

The client should be using mesoestetic hydra milk cleanser, hydratonic, fast skin repair, hydra-vital factor k and moisturising sun protection SPF 50+. This is all available as a pack called the post-peel pack which is recommended for use following any of our peel treatments. Using the products will reduce irritation, peeling and chances of having any adverse reactions.

Can these treatments be used on the body?

Mesopeel ensures unbeatable, progressive results for both facial and body treatments.

Is it recommended to continue peels as a maintenance treatment following my initial sessions?

Regular maintenance peels will sustain the skins healthy appearance, improve texture and provide a preventative anti-aging effect. Peel frequency is dependent on the type of peel used. You can have a maximum of two courses per year. The amount of treatments in a course is again dependent on the type of peel used.

Can peel treatments be combined with other treatments?

As well as being a highly efficient treatment for skin aging, acne and pigmented lesions, mesopeel is an ideal tool for optimising other medical aesthetic procedures such as; mesotherapy, botulinum toxin, radiofrequency, micro needling and electroporation among others.
